Shea Homes is planning to build Lincoln county’s largest subdivision, Carolina Ridge, geared mostly toward adults 55 and older. Carolina Ridge is planned on about 600 wooded acres off NC Hwy. 73, just east of NC Hwy. 16 in eastern Lincoln county.
Carolina Ridge would offer single-family attached and detached homes ranging from 1,000 square feet to 3,500 square feet. According to Walter Fields, Carolina Ridge consultant, about 300 of the homes would be set aside for buyers of any age. The community clubhouse may include an indoor and/or outdoor pool, grand living room, billiards, golf simulators, multi-purpose rooms, a fitness center and spa services, according to a report submitted to the county by Field’s Charlotte-based consulting firm, The Walter Fields Group. Additional planned amenities include walking/biking trails and an area for recreational vehicles and boat storage.
Home prices are expected to range from the upper $100s to the high $300s. Carolina Ridge will be constructed in multiple phases beginning in 2014, pending county approval, and is anticipated to be completed in 2021.
